Bolton resident Michelle Pramuk will offer a new place for
locals to relax and be pampered when she opens The Cottage Garden Spa
in the Saltbox building on Tuesday, Sept. 15.
The newly renovated space just above Bolton
House of Pizza will feature
organic facials, pedicures, manicures and
waxing, with the use of safe and fragrant, natural and environmentally
friendly products.
A native of England, Pramuk treasures both her Cornwall countryside
childhood and her present home in Bolton, which she describes as “a
wonderful, agricultural, darling little town.” Her spa career began
more than 20 years ago with training in England, and was later
supplemented with courses in London, Paris, and the United States.

After completing two years of spa training, Michelle decided she
wanted to see the world. She came to the United States as a nanny, and
later met and married her husband. Bolton residents for nine years, the
Pramuks are raising three children — and a flock of chickens.
“I want my children to know where food comes from,” she said.
Pramuk’s customers have been diverse.
“When I worked in England, my clients were country people,” she said.
Later, she worked on Newbury Street in Boston providing services
“for the rich and famous,” she notes. In Bolton, she hopes to combine
the best of her experiences and philosophy.
Going green, Michelle attests, “is not a fad — it is here to stay.”
She said she has long wanted to “do something with herbs, and here I
am. I use them directly in the pedicure bowl, with river rocks. And I
try to keep everything environment-friendly,” Pramuk adds.
“The Cottage Garden Spa hails to my English heritage and combines
fine European spa treatments with natural certified-organic products,
within a charming ambience which evokes images one might find in the
English countryside,” she wrote for her future Web site philosophy
page. Her emphasis will be on both “nurturing yourself and the
environment.”
“I realize that some of my favorite moments seem to center around
connecting with nature — quietly sitting in the garden listening to the
birds or picking some herbs for a recipe for dinner,” Pramuk said. “We
are all connected to nature.”
Along with that observation is her own research which shows that
“the average person exposes themselves to over 80 chemicals before they
leave the house in the morning,” from those in toothpaste, soap, food
and other substances. At the Cottage Garden Spa, products will be free
of harsh chemicals.
“There will be no formaldehyde, no toluene, no camphor, and no phthalates,” Pramuk said.
Spa hours will be similar to those of a hair salon in the same
building, and Pramuk hopes the businesses will benefit one another. She
finds the space above a pizza parlor to be “warm and cozy,” but
stresses that the aromas upstairs will be from her spa products, not
pizza toppings.
