BNI Pays Off, be patient

I have been an member of BNI since May 2007. My chapter was a new chapter still growing and we met at Owen O'leary's on Rte. 9 in Southborough. It was a great chapter and we had a lot of great meetings and lunches there! Since then we have moved a few times, but we are now officially located at Becker College again, Rte.9 Southborough. I also have to mention I took three months off for maternity.

I had my doubts about BNI. It had been a year, not a referral, not even an inquiry. 

Then, this summer, of course while I was away at my vacation cottage in Prince Edward Island Canada, it happened. I got my FIRST BNI referral. It was a past member who wanted some services for her and her husband. 

Next, another referral from group member Ed Council of Lepidoptra Landscape Design - a great new client that has given me work for two months now.

Third referral, past group member looking for a full site optimization..

and of course the last referall for a Chiropractors Office where I had a massage and the therapist was part of our BNI group at one time (now a member of another chapter)

So, I thought I was taking the summer off, but it didn't work out that way....BNI kept me busy!!!

This month, I am designing a website for a chapter member. 

So the reason for this post is just to tell people to be patient, BNI takes time and it will happen. Everyone I know says it takes time. It's a great way to meet people with the same goals as yourself. 

I am very happy with my chapter and the work I have done thusfar. 

If you are in BNI, it also takes a few hours a week of dedication. Just following up, having a one to one, attending your meeting and so forth. 

Currently in our group I don't even have what's called a "sphere". That is other businesses that would use my business in or I would refer to. In my sphere that would be a graphic designer, an IT consultancy, a printer, a telecommunications company, an Internet law attorney, a credit card processing company, a writer, an advertising firm, a PR person, photographer and I could go on!!!

BNI Metrowest Networking Lunch

Our BNI Metrowest Networking Lunch Chapter is really starting to get off the ground. We have been working on collecting a list of potential members who may want to come to our open house. I really enjoy our networking lunches, not only is the time very convenient the location at Owen Oleary's is a convenient also. Tom Crounse is helping us get the chapter moving, and David Gaffin and Ann Atamian have also worked very hard at launching the chapter. I'll be contacting alot of Assabet Valley Chamber members I may think want to join. Yesterday's meeting was very successful with us having over 400 names of invitees. We are hoping to have the Open House at the current location. Tomorrow is a BNI training day, I'll have more info on that after I attend.
